Yesterday I sat by the water on a little grassy hill and thought about our journey together: 108 days of pilgrimage into the beauty and wonder of our lives.

Thinking about what it means to be enchanted with life. How enchantment is not so different than the ordinary as we might think.

I let the wind and the sun cleanse the cards as I breathed into them before I pulled. Letting our collective intentions reveal themselves in the reading.

The Shaman

From the Wildwood Tarot by Mark Ryan and John Matthews. Illustrated by Will Worthington.

In the reading, the Shaman is positioned in between a King and a Queen. We see the Shaman ready to bring inner transformation into physical form. Able to travel between the worlds, the Shaman is firmly rooted and strong.

This is the time to make real what we may have previously only dreamed of. The Shaman brings wisdom and initiation. A guide for the journey.

The Kingfisher and the Salmon together speak of balancing the inner masculine and inner feminine. In contrast to the earthiness of the Shaman, they speak of balancing air and water energies. Balancing heart and mind.

The King of Arrows reminds us to use our discernment to know what must be kept and what must be let go of in our lives. This beautiful bird will help give us strength as we travel.

The Queen of Vessels reminds us to take care of ourselves and others during our journey. As salmon, she asks us to remember the power of regeneration and rebirth.

Today, I reflect on journeys already taken and journeys yet to come. I wonder what my heart yearns for what I will release. I am excited for a new initiation and for the rebirth I know is on it’s way.
