This series explores what it is like to be a spiritual seeker and Priestess in the 21st century.
Is there more empowerment & direct access to the Divine in the world now?
I’m interviewing women from my Priestess Training Program to find out!
This is a really weighty question isn’t it? It makes you think and delve deep within. When I first read it I thought, “I am ME; I AM!” which of course is perfect as I AM; we ALL ARE….but then I thought ok, I am a mother, a wife, a friend, a sister. I am Reiki Master; a Crystal Healer; a Crystal Guardian; an Earth Lover; a Shamnka; a Priestess…I AM MAGIC!
This journey has been an amazing one with so many ups and downs.
I have been pushed to my limits and then gently embraced and nurtured back to SELF.
One of the most significant, transformational changes was when my parents passed away. I was 6 months pregnant with my first born, living across the world from them and got the call that my dad passed away. My entire world crumbled around me with this news. My dad was my hero, my world. Three months after I had my beautiful baby girl and life was filled with joy and happiness and love and then just before my baby girl was 1 month old, I had another call from back home that totally shattered me….my mum passed away. I cannot tell you how this paralyzed me. I lost both of my parents and became a parent in the space of 4 months. I lost my identity and was given a new one in the space of 4 months. I lost me in the space of 4 months.
My daughter is now 11 years old and is one of the most beautiful, loving and caring souls in this world. Two months ago I finally went back home again for the first time after my parents’ funerals. I visited their grave and left behind a red jasper crystal (my soul crystal). I buried this there as a symbol of myself. I lost a part of myself when they departed this earth but being back home and visiting them has helped me to reclaim this part of me. I shall no longer walk this earth feeling incomplete.
Finding my tribe has really helped me to not only find but also to be my authentic self. When you are surrounded by a community of like minded souls who accept you for you and who encourage you to shine your light in this world you cannot help but find the authentic you.
I would say my greatest spiritual strength is that sense of nurturing I have. It is innate to who I am and since I was very young I remember people saying “you have a way that just makes everyone feel at home”.
I grew up in a Catholic family and went to church regularly. This is what I struggled with the most. I never agreed with the Church and remember questioning my priest with a lot of “why” and “how” questions. Some of the things I was meant to believe and agree with just didn’t sit right with me, in the end my priest said to me,
“Deena, you do not need to believe in the church. The only thing you need to do in this life is to be kind, honest and caring.”
I don’t know if he was trying to get rid of me or not but I took his words to heart and would forever be grateful for his kindness and his words for they gave me the freedom to explore my own beliefs.s
By being myself. By relying on all of my facets to direct and guide me. This to me is empowering:
Standing in your truth by listening to your heart, your mind, your gut, your intuition and feeling if they are all singing the same song.
For when they are, and you let yourself be guided by your truth, you are empowering yourself to create the life you were destined to live.
Spiritual practice is such an intimate experience.
For me, my spiritual practice consists of:
- Earthing (feet in grass)
- Creek visits
- Tarot cards
I do at least one of these activities daily to help myself be more present throughout the day and to become more aware of my reactions to situations and the reasons why.
To be a Priestess in this world today is to have the strength and courage
To stand humbly and authentically in your own power.
It means to courageously walk your path even when it might seem scary for you knowing in doing so you empower others to do the same.
This was how my business Spirit Weaver came to be.
It is a place where we can all learn more about ourselves and hopefully learn to live a more fulfilled, spiritual life. I make mistakes, I cry, I fall, I LOVE, I laugh, I offer support, healings and love to friends, family and clients.
I offer a space for you to feel safe, supported and to reclaim you.
I absolutely love how Deena describes being a Priestess! Her courage, strength and authenticity shine through in all she does!
