I want to live in a world where artists can make a living making art and in order to do that I have to be willing to support them financially.

I remember the first time I bought a piece of art I was in the first year of my Ph.D. It was hundreds of dollars and I had no idea how I was going to eat that month. And I’m not saying it’s always possible but it may be more possible than you think. Because, you know what, I did eat (most likely mac and cheese but still).

…and that piece actually ended up inspiring my initial thesis proposal on the fragile and ephemeral nature of spirit.

Life took a different turn and I ended up writing something else but I still want to write that book and who knows maybe I will someday.

Art has immense value. It inspires, it revolutionizes, it changes people’s lives.

Give some love to an artist today. Let them know you value them.

Kind words and encouragement can also mean the world to them.

We need them to keep creating!
