I’ve Been on the  Floor

I’ve done everything in my power to make myself safe at all costs. I wanted life not to be life.

When I was 15 years old I had my first panic attack. I forgot my lines when I was on stage in a play. I quit my dream of being an actor and became a stage manager instead so I didn’t have to go on stage again.

The panic started in my classes and every day felt like torture.

I quit university.

When I was 26 I had a lightning flash moment with my grandmother. She was very unhappy and my heart broke. I saw myself in my grandmother. I saw what my life would be like in the end if I didn’t fight for it.

So, I went back to school even though I knew it would be hard. Within weeks I wanted to leave again but I choose to stay and work through it.

I got support, spoke to myself in a gentle voice, and I loved myself fiercely.

I STEPPED OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONES!

  • I ended up staying in school and got my Ph.D.

  • I left my 15-year marriage and came out in my early 30s.

  • I left academia and built a six-figure business.
  • I’ve travelled around the world on my own.

  • …and now that girl who used to have stage fright speaks in front of people 100 times a year!
