You know those moments in your life when you have a simple thought and it changes everything?
About 7 years ago I was in a shared airport shuttle on the way to the Insight Meditation Society for a Buddhist retreat on loving kindness and desire. I looked out at the green Massachusetts hills with a knowing that everything was possible.
I thought to myself: “I dedicate my life to the creative spirit.”
And then I went back to graduate school, finished my dissertation, started a business and tried to explain in a branding meeting that I wanted to dedicate my life to the creative spirit.
They liked the creative part but warned me about being too spiritual. Doesn’t play well.
And, well, I wasn’t so confident, and they were the experts, so I got creative and left the spirit. Deep bows to this wonderful company. They are incredible. I just couldn’t say what I wanted.
For those of you who’ve been with me since I started five years ago, you know what I’m talking about. My website and branding were very professional, very creative (I still wish I could use that cool bike logo!) but had very little spirt. Very little of me.
For those of you who are just meeting me you may be scratching your head at this! I get it. I’m a little perplexed too.
But I’m declaring to you now, I dedicate my life to the creative spirit!
I dedicate myself to the creative spirit in you and the immense service all creative spirits do in the world.
Have I told you how much I love artists and shamans and mystics and anyone with that spark inside that just wants to say YES!?!
